In 2018 I attended an American Institute of Architects (AIA) event in NYC focused on the discussion of implementing high rise wood construction into the local building codes around the United States. Today, I am a part of NEFF, The New England Forestry Foundation a nonprofit promoting exemplary forestry standards in Maines North Woods, a strong advocate for implementing CLT high rise wood construction into the built environment.
CLT construction is a great solution to help reverse the impacts of climate change. This article talks about a tall wood building competition that took place in 2017.

Wood is a renewable resource that can be locally harvested, create jobs and stimulate the economy while keeping the carbon footprint lower by not using steel and concrete! CLT… Continue reading

One of Think Greener’s favorite places to explore was the Netherlands that has strong emphasis on a modern sustainable economy, free market and is viewed as pioneers of capitalism. This article speaks about a Dutch pilot project that will combine renewable energy in the form of solar with row farming and touches on the need to expand UK’s EV charging station to meet the 2030 ban of new car sales using gas and diesel.

Thinking Greener With Solar & Row Farming!

New advancement for an old technology that will help the world achieve carbon neutrality. Thankfully, the solar industry is in high demand and the price per watt continues to drop allowing for photovoltaic (PV) solar technology to compete with the cheap cost of oil and gas.
As America continues to grow independent of other countries technology and resources, it increases job opportunities within the green sector. There is a large solar manufacture here in the US banking on moving away from the dominant crystalline silicon solar panel that is produced mainly in China and covers most rooftops, open land, and deserts around the world.
Cadmium telluride solar technology is a thin film that can be flexible if needed and has been around for some time.… Continue reading

Concrete has been on my mind lately as it is one of the most highly used commodities in the world, only 2nd to water, and having an extremely high carbon footprint. I love when a solution can add a dual purpose to an existing use. Well, guess what I am going to talk about today? Concrete, yes that is correct.
Researchers in Indiana are working with a German concrete manufacture to test a new solution for concrete! Concrete with embedded magnetized particles that could one day charge your electric vehicle while driving on the road! Wow… great concept that has been around for a short time but is now becoming cost effective with new breakthroughs. The magnetized cement promises to be reasonably priced with a… Continue reading
