The urgency of addressing global warming has never been clearer. When you turn on the news channels or radio you will probably see or hear of some form of climate change. Lately it’s been about deadly climate-driven disasters unfolding around the world, from flash floods in Europe, North America and Asia, to intense wildfires in Siberia, to widespread persistent heat waves and droughts that threaten to upend food supplies in the U.S., Middle East and much of Africa. Hmm… scary stuff and some people don’t want to talk about it? Well, the IPCC, Think Greener and many other people around the world are taking action!
Have you ever heard of the IPCC? If not, you may want to become familiar with it. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)is a body of the United Nations that is meeting virtually for the next 2 weeks with more than 200 of the worlds leading climate scientist to finalize a critical report. The report will quantifying how much the earth’s temperature has increased and what is expected for humanity in the future due to climate change.
The new report will be the most comprehensive, detailed, and accurate picture of the global climate ever released. The report will be a critical document for world leaders representing the international scientific consensus about human-caused climate change. It takes years to put together the IPCC report as it has 12 chapters focusing on heat-trapping properties of individual greenhouse gases, extreme weather events, and regional impacts of global warming.
