Think Greener Supports Ukrainian Refugees in Lubin, Poland

Think Greener, LLC is offering a way to support the Ukrainian women and children staying in three refugee shelters in Lubin, Poland. People can make a monetary donation to Think-Greener.com and 100% of the contribution goes to providing needed items to the 300+ refugees within the three shelters.

Think Greener has a personal connection with Lubin, Poland. In 2021 My wife Ewa and I spent over two months spotlighting their sustainable solutions they are implementing throughout the city.

My wife grew up in Poland and spent 17 years in Lubin. Her mother along with many of school and work friends still live there. The chair of Lubin’s city council is a good friend of Ewa and was able to connect Think Greener with Kamil, the coordinator for the refugee shelters.

We have established a great relationship with Kamil, as Ewa has frequent correspondence with him identifying daily needs of the refugee women and children. Think Greener created a call to action on our website which includes our Polish Amazon affiliate site. We select the needed Amazon items and add them to our affiliate store. We then use the donations to make very specific purchases. Items typically arrive the next day and cost nothing to ship. Yes, you heard that right! Next day arrival and free shipping!

In just over three weeks, Think Greener has raised $2,500.00 that was used to purchase products on Amazon.pl and pay for shipping of 180lbs. of donated clothing. Now that we have sped and simplified the process using the Polish Amazon affiliate site, we no longer are accepting in person donations. We are scheduled to send our last shipment of another 180lbs to the shelters.

Kamil has sent a long list of 67 sneaker and slipper sizes listed by room numbers for the refugees, as this is what is currently needed. Prior to that, it was women and children’s clothing, baby wipes, diapers, and ecofriendly cleaning detergents.

Kamil provides pictures and videos as the items arrive at the shelters. Many pictures show the refugees holding and wearing the new Amazon items they have received. It is truly a heart-warming feeling knowing that we are making a difference to the women and children’s lives with the help of our generous donors.

Since most Ukrainian men between the ages of 18 & 60 are forbidden to leave the country, the staggering 90% of the two million refugees in Poland, are women and children. This is causing horrible separations of families and creating a crisis for women, specifically mothers who will have a hard time finding work as they will need day care for their children. Poland is confronting this issue by supporting working mothers who have lost everything in the war. Thousands of Polish people have opened their homes and created makeshift refugee shelters to provide temporary housing and support.

Older Ukrainian children can now attend the Polish schools and the Ministry of Education ordered a directive to create three additional openings for each classroom to accommodate preschool children. The educational system is anticipating the need for emotional support, Ukrainian speaking teachers and psychotherapists to help the children. As you might guess, these extra openings are already filling up.

It is horrible what is happening to the Ukrainian people and the Poles need as much support as possible to sustain their relief efforts.
